The early days of the internet saw a number of web sites which were very boring and dry. The reason for their monotony was because most web sites then only comprised of text. That was web 1.0.
In today's age of web 2.0, multimedia and interactivity are key factors for web page design. Web sites nowadays not only include text. Rather many websites do not include it all all or they try to minimize the amount of text on a page. Web sites also comprise of sounds, pictures, and videos.
All of these multimedia aspects bring more life to the internet. For instance, singers who want to share their talents don't just have to write about themselves. Instead, they can record an audio or even a music video of themselves and then upload it on a website. However, web designers should take great care when adding multimedia effects on a website because too much multimedia can make the loading time of a site very slow.
